Yeah because how many centers do you know (other than Shaq) that have really made a name for themselves. I mean DH is on the rise, but you see more legends in the NBA coming from the Guard and Forward position (i.e McGrady, Bryant etc)
So players know where they can reach popularity, where they can be seen as a legend in their later career. So they start to follow the same mold. But I say if god gives you the physical frame of 7'0+ and weighing more than 250+ pounds, you should stick to what you can do best, I really don't think anyone would want to see Yao Ming play the guard position.
