Then, while lapping Grattan, the engine-oil temperature reached roughly 290 degrees, and the car adopted a low-power mode for self-preservation. This required even more low-speed driving to cool things down. Not fun.
Thus, we were limited to just one hot lap at a time."
It's a common complaint of anyone that tracks the Z. It will overheat. Lots of car test articles out there that say the same thing. It's a known problem. If you drive it normally on the street, you won't go into "limp" mode or have any overheating issues, but hit the track without mods and you won't last long.
As for the NISMO being dicontinued, it's no wonder. There were only a handful that came to Canada and they didn't sell well at all. Some are still out there in the showrooms. Heck, the Z itself is a poor seller and constantly shows on the the lowest selling cars in Canada list. Personally I like that! I like having a unique car.
As for the NISMO, there are plenty of Z owners like me that think it's just plain ugly and ruins a very sexy car by making it look like rice.
But, if you want one, you can find them.
