BF1942 you had to have skill to be an elite tanker because you had to hit while on the move because it was about where you hit not just about hitting the other tank. The elite tankers could hit from a distance while on the move and or took extra time to get around to the side or back of an enemy before shooting.

Im pretty sure BC2 also took into account more damage if you hit closer to a 90 degree angle, and also if you hit the sides or rear.
