Has anyone done an HFC without the material inside? I have heard of folks hollowing out stock CATs for inspection purposes, so this has been on my mind for a while. Alternatively, can an HFC withstand the EGT associated with TT/SC applications?

I don't know of anyone doing that (that's posted on here) I'm not sure if thats a service FI could do to their own cats, or if you'd have to take them to a shop later on to core out like that.
If you're looking for looks alone, and not smog testing, you might want to look into FI's
Resonated Test Pipes, they'll have a chamber in them just like HFC's will, you could "claim" they are HFC's.

Unless someone has seriously done their research, I doubt they'll be able to visually notice a difference.
As for HFC's and TT/SC applications, I believe they do hold up, but you need to find out what type of core they are as there are 2, Metallic, and Ceramic cores. IIRC
Metallic cores will eventually rust out/fail so make sure you're using a
Ceramic core.
Anyone else heard otherwise? Do I have them switched?
