Do we all have the right to protect ourselves? Absolutely yes!

However, there are ways to calm a dispute like this at the onset. If he really didn't know she had a boyfriend then he should have told her to not get in his car. Her boyfriend saw them at a club right? It's likely the confrontation started there. Why not break the chain of events at that moment. Isn't a club a public place to start with? When I grew up people didn't talk out their mouth and whimper with their tail between their legs when a physical confrontation started as a result. Getting your *** kicked is better than hitting a tree at 100mph. Best be prepared to back up your comments if it gets to that level.

The way people deal with anger is really weird these days. Lot's of tough guys on the car forums (keyboard world class fighters ) and road rage with a 2,000lb+ car. Seriously? Ramming some dude in a 370Z just because your gf is in the car? Why would you give a fvck about her anymore at that point? Lots of ladies out there and it just means you get to have fun with a new one! I have said it all along that 'I don't wish a poor outcome for the Z driver'. That is how I still feel about it. However, he's the one that drove his car up to 100mph on public roads. So what's the plan in that case? Keep driving at 100mph to see who runs out of gas first? Sure, it's hard to think clearly in the moment so I understand that part of it. If this is really the true story and this guy's car kept getting rammed while driving, the truck driver MUST be in jail at this point. If his mental state was really like that why did he stop at the accident scene? Why would he not just drive away if he's in such a crazy mental state? It doesn't make sense that he switched to a rational state of mind so quickly.

Looking back is always 20/20 and we're all judging this from a computer screen. What do we know? Absolutely nothing!

People need to stop this "it's never my fault" stuff. Accept responsibility for your actions. If you're being chased by a guy in a truck and you speed to 100mph it means you don't care about anyone except yourself. If he hit a bus full of children would it be the same? Would you still think it was ok for him to drive like that? What if the passenger was your sister? What would I have done? Given the limited amount of info I would have ended this at the club. However, I don't know enough to determine if that was even an option.

I hope the driver recovers and doesn't pay for this with his life. I hope he learns from the mistake and becomes a better person as a result. We all do stupid things and it doesn't stop when we hit 25, or 30, or 35 years of age.
It could have ended at the club, heck he should have stayed in that night, but like you said, hindsight is 20/20. It's one thing to hear about it and another to be in this guys' shoes. There was no way for him to know it would escalate into what happened, but I do agree, he must have had plenty of chances to stop it from getting worst. Sometimes though, you don't have time to stop and think nor the ability to do so. Sometimes, you just react, and its not always the right way.
