That definitely sounds like they were trying to screw you. I hate dealers that do business like that. When I bought my car, I got a phone call almost 2 weeks later saying that my loan rate had changed. They told me that the contract I signed was just a "pre-approval" and that my interest rate would go up. I told them that's ridiculous I have excellent credit, and if you give me a day I'll have a new loan prepared from a different lender. Needless to say, they called back 2 hours later saying that everything is OK and nothing on the contract will change.

I later did some research on this and this scam is called the "yo yo scam". The dealsership delivers the car and later calls you back to get you to come back in and sign a new contract.
