I want to retire by the time I am 45 or so, and if I keep buying $75K cars every time one comes out that I like, I'll never do that. The Z06 is a helluva fun car, but no NAV, sub-standard sets, blah blah blah make it a 1-trick pony. Track-use only unless you want to live with a LOT of compromises. I had to own one to figure it out myself, and that said, I would do it all over again the same way in a heartbeat! It's worth having as a life experience I think. I own/owned one of the fastest production cars in the world, watched it made over several days at the factory, etc. etc. Once in a life-time stuff for me.

All that said, what, am I going to keep it forever? No. Am I going to buy another $75K car trying to buy land and a house? No. So, why not buy that land/house faster, enjoy a nicer interior in a car I'm not scared to park at work, and buy whatever is out when I'm in my 40's and have all the important stuff paid for?

I bought the Z06 because GM was in trouble and I got it WAAAYYYY under MSRP and I had NOTHING on my credit at all except a little $750 credit-card, a $1000 loan, and a $2500 line of credit. It has provided proof of accountability to the bank, so that land/house will not be an issue. They see the note I pay for that without having trouble, a house for a few bones more won't be a big deal at all when I throw 40 acres or so down as collateral.

It's all about me striking when the iron was hot regarding purchasing a car that historically went for MSRP or more, wanting to build my credit-score, being under contract to live here for 2 years and NOT wanting to buy anything to tie me to the area, and a high-school dream come true. I always try my hardest to fulfill my dreams. This was one of them from highschool: Viper or Z06.

Currently my next "dream" is a bit less $$, but still cool. Silenced AR-15 project well underway

To me, cars are all about fun. Not having to have the biggest **** on the block. I could care less. I want to smile for the sake of my own enjoyment!
