Dizzy, if you get the software updated it is supposed to fix the issue you are having with people not being able to hear you. I think this is the real reason they are sending this letter out, like the reason behind the reason. Actually, I just saw an old US TSB bulletin about it that says the same thing. Check it out under TSB area.
Take it in and let me know if it fixes the issue.

I read about the TSB before and the people having the issue said it made no difference. I can't possibly see a software change fixing the problem. It stems from a crappy mic in a crappy location just not working properly. It seems to be more prevelent in some cars than others. Mine is pretty much unusable. As I mentioned, patient friends I can struggle through, but for business, it's a non starter. As a matter of fact, if I know I have a lot of calls to get done when I'm on the road, before I got the portable hands free, I use to take my wifes Toyota because the clarity is outstanding. Just bugs me when you take it to the dealer the first time and they go "yeah we know, the phone sucks in the Z". Then you come on here and read all the problems people have with it. What was it? $4500 for the NAV upgrade and I had to buy a potable hands free cause the one is Z is unusable.
2 things that bug me about my Z - the phone, and the sillyness of not having a hatch release inside the car.
All that said, I guess I'll try the fix in the spring. I put her to bed for the long cold winter yesterday!
