I found it MUCH easier to simply unbolt the hangers from the car, then remove them from the exhaust once they are off the car. Also MUCH easier to get them on the new exhaust and helps you align everything easier upon re-installing since you can just hold it in place and attach the bolts loosely at first. Just make sure you are putting the hangers back on facing the correct way or the bolt holes won't line up.
