If you give it a try I recommend you work on both your road and oval licenses. It's gobs of fun.
iRacing will probably be good for you given where your head is at. As long as you focus on 1) staying on track and 2) staying off other cars you will do well.

I think I saw they have a free trial. Ima check it out when I get home. Read about how detailed tracks are.
