If you look at professional sports car racing you have series where the cars are lightly modified from stock like the Grand Am Continental Tire series. More heavily modified cars (but still based off of the stock chassis) are raced in the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car series GT class, or ALMS GT or GTC. The FIA also has a GT classification.
Beyond that you move away from production cars and into prototypes. Ground-up race cars built within whatever the regulations are for that particular series.
This NISMO RC is a race car, designed to race against cars similarly equipped in professional competition. It's not an everything killer, just a GT-class racer.

And that is why it is cheaper to just buy your own base/nismo and modify it to that class to race in.
I wonder if us nismo owners can ever get that vent modification on the front bumpers. They would be a great mod for cooling purposes.
