How? It promotes smoother shifting no doubt, especially downshifts, but the amount of slippage you need to properly shift doesn't feel any different to me.

If you shift poorly (require far too much slippage because you can't time upshifts correctly, or most likely when starting from a stop), SRM is not

Like the OP I have another manual transmission car (have been driving them
all my life) and a blip of the throttle on the downshift is second nature: the time spent engaging/disengaging the clutch itself doesn't really vary.
