COBB Tuning Blog Tech Tidbit: BMW N54 Stock Air Box vs. DCI

Seems like the most beneficial mods are
1. Tune
2. Front mount intercooler
3. Downpipes

what year is it?
It's her car, a 2008. But ask me who's put more mileage on it...hahaha. She was near me when I wrote that post too so I like messing with her by telling her its my car: "give me the keys to my car", "where are my keys"?, "did you wash my car?" etc. Hahaha. I'm the one who spent months looking for it, and I picked it up from the dealer. Plus we may be living together soon anyways.

Anywho, I've thought about downpipes and the like, it's just a huge warranty risk. They're so easy to see, and if the dealer sees they aren't OEM they will almost immediately refuse to do any work on the car at all. Not worth the hassle. I'd rather get a light tune for just a little extra power and hope that the RWD module is completed before this winter ends. xDrive has a RWD mode that can be easily accessed by pulling a fuse.

I love the damn car already though...

Also, I am not sure about your cars shocks, and being new prob helps , but my buddy who had a 135i and sold it for a 335xi like yours b/c of baby on the way, said the only mod he regretted was the eibach springs as it made his ride suffer more than he desired...

I have been looking at the various suspension mods you can do from spring and shock combos(one with swifts I am interested in but i have NO idea what compression i want or w/e it is you can select, theres a bunch of spring rates and i have no idea what any of them mean)

H and R has a spring/shock combo for my car for around 700 and you can get KW1s for 1200... Id love to drop mine too but I dont want to have to do anything twice..

On a side note, I will try to come down next week, tomorrow I am busy...
Yeah, I'm still leaning my options. Though I've always heard it's the H&Rs that are crazy stiff and the Eibachs that are soft with a minimal drop that's less than 1-inch. In any case, stuff like JB4 is too extreme for me. The more I hang out with the BMW guys and around the forums, the more I see how quickly the cars develop problems after aggressive tunes. So the JB+ makes more sense to me, it'll net 330-340WHP and 375TQ - and that to me is fantastic. Plus, it can be uninstalled in about 5 minutes and there is very, very little concern with reliability.

Btw, N55 isn't tunable at all compared to the N54. People complain the most they can squeeze out of that single is 360WHP.
