I say Japanese manufacturers are killing of their production of sports cars because... Well, they are. You can't really argue with that. The s2000, supra, mr2....etc....all gone. Even the evo is dead. The z is likely done...what're you gonna buy in the 30k price range now? The ft86 with 200hp? Maybe a scion tc?

But largely I agree. Even the RX-8 has been hanging on despite crummy sales. Japanese cars in general are not selling as well anymore, and I think the reason why is Hyundai/Kia.
