Actually the LS1 was under-rated from the factory. It's assumed the LS1 made about 350 at the crank in the F-body's. Still, it is about 200lbs heavier than the Z.

I would say it's a drivers race with the edge going to the Z in a drag race. From a roll I would say it would be pretty even to about 100mph at which point the Z will start walking away slowly. I won't say specfically how I know this. As already mentioned, when you start talking about mods the WS6 will wind hands down.

As for how they corner. Everyone gives them a bad rap in this department, and I used to do the same, until I drove one. My girlfriend when we first started dating had both a 2001 TransAm and C6 Vette. I drove the TransAm a lot until we sold it last year. While it doesn't corner like the Z does it's still pretty decent and pretty easy to control. With a few $$ spent in suspension mods it will do very well on a auto-x or road course. There are couple guys in my local SCCA group that do very well with theirs.
