Problem is, there's like 30k or so z's, and only a small portion of people would buy it. Even if they kept their crack proprietary, the market is minuscule. In reality, the crack would be easy to reverse engineer, thus leaving them with nothing to recoup their cost.
The ecu doesn't appear that difficult to get through. I think a couple friends and I could have it done with a month of full time work... But that's at least $20-50k worth of a good engineer's time, not really practical.
