I have a question though. What is the point of the louvres? Could you simply just drill a ton of holes in that spot or cutting slots out instead of buying the Audi part and rivetting it in?
Yes, you could just drill a grid design of holes. There is very little clearance between the liner and the oil cooler, so I would recommend removing the liner so you do not accidentally drill into the oil cooler or drill the holes before installing the cooler. That Audi part was $38 shipped and the pop rivet parts cost me less than $20. So it was inexpensive if you ask me. More than using a drill to drill holes, yes, but super expensive otherwise, no.

Forum member Zat_Zuma did just that and added a SPAL fan:

I thought the louvered section looked better on the fender protector but looks are completely subjective.

The vent as best as I can tell because the temperatures have been somewhat cooler in the DFW Metroplex seem to be about 5-10 degrees lower with the vent. It is hard to say. I am also having the Greddy turbo oil pan installed this week. If that does not lower my temperatures enough, I will add the SPAL fan. As a last resort I will drill a hole for a duct in the front bumper.

I guess every little cooling addition helps.
