JRM has confirmed that it will enter its Nissan NISMO GT-R GT3 in next weekend’s fourth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Magny-Cours. The event marks the first ever competitive outing for the new car, which is being jointly developed between NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International Co. Ltd.) and JRM (JR Motorsports).
Richard Westbrook and David Brabham will drive the car in the three-hour race, which forms part of the GT3 GT-R’s development programme. JRM is using the event as a test to see how the car performs in a competitive environment and has stated that the final result is not the most important aspect of its participation this weekend.
The race at Magny-Cours precedes the car’s official launch, which is scheduled to take place in October. JRM is also planning other race events before the end of the year, both in the UK and Europe.
JRM Managing Director Andy Barnes said: “Testing has been underway since earlier this year and the car has run very well. We now want to place it into a competitive environment as part of its continued development. We have no intention of racing to win at this stage, as we are focused on putting race-miles on the car and collecting as much data as possible.”
