I don't think the thick skin is necessary unless you are foolish enough to think your intake/HFC/catback of brand X is going to get you SUBSTANTIALLY different results than the next guy... it seems most of the Z cars are pretty much in line with each other all things being equal. I can't reasonably expect to be 40 hp more than the guy down the street with the same mods as me. Just doesn't work that way.
