Thoughts on Dynopack results?
I have been reading this forum for a while and I have had my z for just over a year now. Never really thought of modding it to begin with but after reading this forum it is impossible not to.
My coworker called Friday and said he was going to dyno his new camaro ss so I figured I would drive over with him and see what my Z could put down. When we showed up to this place that tunes GM vehicles exclusively, I see the dyno they have is a Dynopack. I had never really heard of one before but the dude said it reads just like the mainstream ones (i was assuming this meant dynojet).
So the camaro hooks up and pulls 405 hp after a few runs and it only has a CAI. I thought that was pretty good so I was hoping to see at least 280 out of my Z. I have the HPS tubes as well as berk HFC's installed. He does a few pulls and the best my Z gets is 270 hp. So I come home to start reading what the deal is and the general opinion on the internet is that these dynopacks read higher than dynojets because the rear wheels are off the car when doing a pull. When I search this forum I only find a few post regarding dynopack results, but they all show a little lower than the stock numbers from a dynojet that I see on here. It seems most Z's on here pull 275hp stock on a dynojet and what I see from searching here, stock Z's get around 265 or 268 on a dynopack. Either way, I was still pissed I didnt get some better numbers with what I have modded. Only thing that would have jumped higher than most dynopack results I am seeing is my torque numbers. I am including a dynopack result I found on here from a guy comparing his stock system to K&N filters, as well as my results from friday. Anybody have any thoughts on why I had such low numbers? I know all dynos are different and it was 108 in austin that day. I am wondering if the dude just didn't know what he was doing in configuring the software for a Z. Both of these graphs are SAE corrected and I did it in 5th gear. my oil temp was 205
Thanks
