I just never even thought of us ing onef or how id evewn use it properly. all i do is shoot and change my aperture accordingly. back in the day they had to do way more manual calculations than we do now so i saydrop the calculator and learn dof on the fly
In high luminance situations I can see via the view finder but at low lighting I cant see DOF all that well. Also in some low angle shots I have to rely on live view which at least on my camera I don't have a good reference. Thus the calculator to estimate what I'm going to be getting out of the shot, shoot about 5-6 different aperture settings and walla.

I'm not sitting there with a ruler or anything btw. Just eyeballing distance.
