I was TOTALLY in your camp until my mother got COPD and has difficulty breathing, especially when walking long distances in hot weather. She got a handicap placard and uses it when it's hot. If you saw her getting out of her car in a handicap spot, you wouldn't realize why she has the placard, as she doesn't walk with a cane or walker, nor uses a wheelchair.
