i was gonna mention this as well. might want to look at the histogram again on your edit. i was like that before as well, when things looked okay on my screen, they'd come out kind of dark everywhere else. now i actually look at the histogram and on those early photos, they're shifted waaaaay left.
hmm..i think it's down to flickr or smugmug. i guess it's whether or not i want to spend the $40+ / year instead of $25. not sure how far i'm gonna go with photography, i'm really not that good yet, but it's turning into far more of a hobby than i thought it would haha. i'm already scouting for another lens to complement my kit lens!
i like flickr just b/c even in its basic form it has some decent protection levels. smugmug charges its medium-grade for the right click protect, yada yada that flickr offers for free. but overall i'm very impressed w/ the smugmug layout and website capabilities.
