You know, part of me wonders if he was completely BS'ing me. The exchange went pretty much like this:
Him: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: Um, I'm guessing because I was driving too fast?
Him: Yep. Do you know how fast you were going?
Me: Around 60?
Him: Yep, that's what I got you at. Do you know what the speed limit is on this road?
Me: 45 mph.
Point being, I volunteered my speed to him. His claim that it matched what he got me at could be complete BS. In fact, now that I think about it, the last time I got pulled over I also got a warning, but it was a written one. The officer actually wrote up a real ticket and handed it to me, but it had "WARNING ONLY" written all over it. This time, he just verbally told me he appreciated me being honest and not playing games with him and said he was just giving me a warning. It was all verbal, no ticket or anything.
I'm seriously thinking that maybe he had no real case against me, but decided to pull me over anyway to do a license check, make sure I had no warrants, etc. And telling that he was letting me go with a warning sounded better than telling me that he was letting me go because he didn't really have anything on me.
