The Nissan oil delivered the WORST analysis of all the tests I had done. I never go beyond 3,500 miles -- in any of my cars/trucks -- with any kind of oil and the Nissan Ester was not just a little worse -- it was a great deal worse. At 3,100 miles of moderate driving on the sample, it was severely out of spec on viscosity, among other measures. It also showed high levels of junk/contaminants.
Do Nissan engineers know something we do not? Yes, they do. They know that an ester-type oil will quiet down their noisy valve train in the VQ's and keep customers quiet about noisy engines. The oil, though, is junk. Pick any oil while blindfolded and you have a greater than 95% chance of getting an oil that is far superior to Nissan Ester.
