On the 2010/11 cars the screen has both a composite video in (for the backup camera) and an RGB input for NAV etc. On the 2009 car it just has an RGB input. The Navtool is basically a Composite to RGB converter that allows you to input regular(composite) video from a camera or source like DVD player etc. JeffBlue organized a group buy for the 2009 owners requiring the Navtools while I concentrated on a solution for the 2010/11 owners because there wasn't one.
The other difference between the 2009 and 2010/11 cars is related to the bypass kit, the difference is that the sensing wires (reverse, parking brake, speed etc) are on a 40pin connector on the 2009 cars and 32pin on the 2010/11. Up to this point the 40pin connector wasn't available and hence the kit was only available for the 2010/11 cars.
