The Evo X does the same thing. It's primarily for emissions purposes - the intent is to leave the throttle open a bit and leave ignition timing advanced to burn off excess fuel after the engine has been burning a rich mixture (free-revving would cause this, same with after a WOT pull). Some theorize it has more to do with keeping the catalytic converter(s) healthy. I really have no idea... I don't spend much time thinking about improving emissions when I tune cars. lol
It's annoying, but I know it's normal on the Evo X, and probably the same on the Z.
