Yeah, but if the point is to avoid any potential damage you would think you would try and draw at least fractionally less attention by parking properly. I'm sorry, but the car stands out much more if it is parked like the owner is the king of the land. That says look at me, I think I am better than anyone which is much more likely to be met with acts of automotive violence.
I maintain: park further away or do not park at all, don't park like you are entitled to special privileges as nice car or poor car, neither give you any.
