According to Nissan, you not only have to spend $2150 for the Nav, but since it's only available on the Touring model you also have to spend the extra money for that. Therefore, depending on the deal you can work, Nav will cost ~$5000 more than the base model. I also have the Sport package and I think that is
definitely money well-spent.
There are several components to the Nav package that may or may not make it worth $2150 to you. Obviously, there's navigation, but IMHO that function is performed as well or better with an iPhone or 3G iPad and one of the navigation apps, most of which are free or a few $$. The other advantages are:
- it fills in the odd empty space in the middle of the dash
- Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System with 7.0" VGA touch-screen monitor and voice recognition
- XM NavTraffic® and XM NavWeather™
- Zagat Survey® restaurant reviews
- RearViewMonitor
- 9.3 GB Music Box® hard drive for digital music storage and playback
- USB connection port for iPod® interface and other compatible devices
- Streaming audio via Bluetooth® wireless technology
- DVD video playback capability
- Auxiliary audio/video input jacks (this feature replaces auxiliary audio input jack on head unit)
IMHO, as a package, it's probably worth the money. The rearview camera, streaming Bluetooth audio for iPod connection would be useful features. I have a Sport + Touring and appreciate both of those packages, but don't really miss the Nav package. The AUX iPad/iPhone/iPod input that is standard on the Touring Bose system works more than well enough for my music needs. I do like the rearview camera feature. It's very useful on my wife's Murano, and rear visibility is definitely impaired on the Z by comparison. I could spend the $750 and get it installed...but haven't done that yet.
