Default Test Driving 911s

Okay, so I'm not ever selling my Z but will keep it for a DD and track car because I really like the car. I am interested however, in purchasing a Porsche 911 either used sooner or new in about 3 years. This is not a WTB thread but a comment on driving differences thread.

Here's my dilemma: I've driven a 2004 GT3, a 1987 930 that was built for the track and puts down 450HP to the wheels and a 2010 Carrara S, to me the handling, feel and performance is amazing but driving the GT3 and 930 was like driving a tractor in terms of clutch, shifting and steering comfort/effort, like I said the handing/performance was amazing but everything else was a chore. The 2010 Carrara S was just plain taught fun.

So driving the older and slightly older 911s has really made me appreciate just how easy driving the 370 is. It just is easier to make it work hard on the track without straining anything. I guess this is convincing me that I need to target a fairly new 911 although it will take a while.

Thoughts on older 911s and driving differences?
