Removing the drive shafts has nothing to do with the inner workings of the rear differential. The shafts bolt to the flanges on the differential and insert into each rear wheel hub. Removing, greasing, and rotating only involves unbolting the shafts from the rear diff flanges, removing them from their respective hubs, regreasing, and reinstalling 180 rotated. With a lift, this is a 1 hour job.
