Acura TLs have had these filters ... on the "B" service every 25K, you're supposed to change this $10 filter.
It's about $150+ to have the dealer do the B. Oil change, rotate tires, "check fluid levels", and replace the cabin filter. You have to remove the glove compartment door, then pull the glove compartment out, then wriggle and twist the plastic of the dash until you can get the filter out and put the new one in. Slightly intimidating in the sense you're worried you'll snap off some piece of plastic, but not hard.
If you study the online instructions for half an hour, you can do it yourself in ten minutes (and save the $150). They don't want you to do that ... which is why it's designed into such a relatively inaccessible place.
Once you have a new cabin air filter in, you'll easily be able to see the Emperor's New Clothes! As an added bonus ... your wallet will feel refreshingly lighter! And for a few minutes, you'll feel light-headed, as if the filter actually made a difference in your ability to breathe, or maybe in the shocked realization you just paid a whole lotta money for nothing much.
