Decision is ultimately up to you. For me, I chose to go WITHOUT the nav, because of cost (like you said $3k is still $3k), and since I already have a couple of high end hand held navi's that I could move from vehicle to vehicle, I chose not to go with the OEM NAV.
I'm happy with my choice... I chose to use the $3k on the sport package instead Don't get me wrong, the OEM NAV is NICE. I would have loved to have it... but because of cost and because of the convenience of hand held GPS's, the OEM NAV was moot to me.
Besides, there are a lot of folks who have installed aftermarket NAVs into the console... they look pretty darned sweet!
