Dallas took that approach with Avery in 2007, and it didn't work out for him. I understand both sides, though. I just think Spoelstra showed too many weaknesses that he needs to work on before he gets better, which would only take time away from the team's championship aspirations. I agree with Phelan in that he would be a great assistant coach.
