It would help, but a low profile street tire really isn't ideal for the drag strip. If you want grip at the strip I would suggest looking for the smallest wheel diameter you can fit over the rear brakes and a set of drag radials or ET Street slicks.

Unfortunately in the quest for ultimate straight line traction you give up a lot in terms of lateral grip, so its best to have a separate drag and street setup.
