The G37 gained 448 lbs going from coupe to convertible - while I'm sure a lot if not most of that is for the additional mechanics and bracing, etc. needed; I'm sure the "hard top" weighs more than a soft top would have and any weight they can keep off the Z the better as far as I'm concerned (of course, anyone who wants a "hard top" convertible can always choose the G37).

As nice as the Zed is why couldn't they do a folding harttop like Mazda's MX5, it only added 37 kilos to the equation.
