Because then, they'd be venturing into "super snake" territory. The GT500 has always been the working mans "affordable" super car, once you make it past the 60k price barrier, you price your current demographic out of being able to afford the car, thus, losing millions in sales. Ford has always been the consumer friendly car brand, and IMHO, they wont allow their customers to break the bank to own their cars. It's also a direct competitor with Chevy's new boy the ZL1, which will be priced between 50-55k, gotta stay competitive.
