this link has instructions, but SKIP the part on removing the fork that's at the end of the rod. it is NOT necessary to remove the fork.

simply loosen the locknut behind the fork. then turn the rod counter clockwise (you are "screwing the rod into the fork". for me it took about 3 1/2 turns. CCW to engage earlier, CW to engage later (further up). then re-tighten the lock nut (12mm), and test drive.
the gas pedal was fabricated out of thin aluminum sheet metal. i used 3/4" blocks of wood underneath the aluminum sheet to raise the pedal height. drill one hole on top and one on bottom of the sheet of aluminum (with wood blocks underneath acting as spacers) and bolt it to the existing gas pedal. use counter-sink screws to have the head of the screws flush with the surface. the brake and clutch pedals were from an aftermarket kit (dont remember the name). it's been on my subaru for years, and my 240sx before that.
