I've done several searches using Google on the site, and I have not really seen this one.
I know about the clank/clunk from 1st to 2nd, and I know what "gear lash" (that whining noise) is and this isn't about that, and trust me, I'm not bitching about a little noise here and there in a sports car, just not familiar with this one... Here's the best I can describe it.
It's kind of a pulsating, "pfft" sound, almost like an exaust leak at the manifold on 1 cylinder, if you have ever heard that, and it changes with engine RPM.
How to make it happen/hear it:
- Rolling along slowly in 1st or 2nd gear, coasting, then step on the gas *lightly* at about 2000 RPM
- You can hear it better with the driver's window down
- I mainly hear it in my neighborhood pulling away from a stop really slow (25 is fast around there) or creeping through a parking lot.
- I have never noticed it when the car was cold, definitely every time I have heard it, the car has been hot/driven for 1/2 hour+, but I don't know for sure that it doesn't do it cold.
- It's pretty quiet and if you get into the throttle or the engine revs above 2300 RPM or so I can't hear it anymore, but my hearing is not the best.
Does this sound familiar? Could it be the injectors?
Thanks for any serious replies.
