you can't just remove the springs and re-install the assembly unfortunately, honestly this isn't that much of an issue from what I can see, the pedal has little side to side movement. G guys have been running with this removed for years and not reporting any problems.

I'm just looking into replacing the spring for longevity if its a simple case of finding a proper spring. If I don't find one im certainly not going to re-install the old one.
