I tried looking at a diagram in the FSM briefly, but it doesn't look like it would do much. The problem is that it's not the pin assembly by itself that gives the pedal it's stability, but rather the heavy spring forcing itself upwards against the pedal. Even by repacing the spring with a softer one than OEM you could theoretically keep some of the stability, but it still wouldn't be close to the OEM specs. Realistically speaking, it's up to those who choose to do this mod whether the percieved benefits outweigh the potential long term issues.
