I was cruising at around 100 MPH on a stretch of highway in the middle of nowhere (REALLY in the middle of nowhere... there were no houses for miles on end). I saw some police lights in my side mirror, so I pulled over. He was acting like I was a fugitive, and I soon figured out why. He said he had been following me for almost 15 miles. It was only then that I realized (remember, I'd only had this car for a few hours) the car had no rearview mirror; apparently, it had fallen off and the previous owner had not replaced it. Combine this with the fact that I had the stereo cranked, and I had no idea that I was being chased by a cop for around 10 minutes. Thankfully, the cop cooled down once he realized that I didn't mean to lead him on a highspeed chase and only issued me a ticket.
I never paid it, so there is some plains state where I probably have a "record."
