I think it mostly boils down to culture preservation. Even the average cultural mode here is a bit on the ricey / all-about-image side for my taste, but at least we still have some level of performance and functionality focus on this board, and it's not a bad balance all things considered, and people are getting what they want out of it.
Where you're going with the 370Z, in a lot of peoples' opinion, just has nothing to do with the spirit of a sportscar at all, and a lot of people don't want this board to completely devolve into being mostly trafficked by the types of threads and posts people in your subculture would be creating. From their point of view, it would be a very crappy signal:noise ratio and they'd just have to move out to another message board to get back to what they were talking about before.
For example, here in the Wheels & Tires section, it's nice to be able to find data on things like wheel weights, clearances with various stock/aftermarket BBKs, reports of damage/cracking (under track conditions? street?), etc. It gets harder to find the data most of us care about when the info is cross-contaminated and every search for "camber" or "offset" brings up VIP-style threads instead of track/street-performance threads related to camber+offset values. Or we're looking for reports of which wheels cracked/broke at the track and under what conditions, and instead our search pulls up VIPidiots who broke their rear axles when they went over a parking lot speedbump.
We'd rather preserve the cultural bias we have here now by shunning your take on things before it grows out of hand. I'd recommend you just start a new forum (or get a new sub-forum started here that the rest of us can ignore?), or use some existing Slammed/VIP-style forum and get a 370Z subforum added.
