BAY RIDGE, N.Y. (WPIX) - An irate Brooklyn man allegedly struck his wife in the head with a meat cleaver Monday because he felt he could no longer put up with her clumsiness, according to police.
Police sources said Qi Xian Hung, 53, was heard screaming that he had endured his wife's clumsiness for too long prior to the attack.
"I've put up with you for all these years!" neighbors said Qi Xian Huang screamed in Chinese after his wife accidentally swept dirt over his feet while cleaning.
Following the attack Shao Ling Ye, 54, was reportedly dazed and bleeding when she stumbled out of the couple's Bay Ridge apartment into the street.
Huang followed his wife and tried to stop the blood with towels before leading her back to their upstairs apartment shortly before 9:30 a.m., neighbors said.
Ye survived the attack and is listed in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital. Hung was under arrested and is facing assault charges. Police said Huang confessed his crime, which erupted during a quiet morning while his wife was performing household duties.
She was sweeping up, cleaning dust from the floor, when she swept some over Huang's feet. Huang then snapped and grabbed the meat cleaver, according to police. Huang's t-shirt was splattered with his wife's blood when police responded to the scene. Huang is facing assault, menacing and weapons charges, according to police.
The couple had been divorced for about a year but still lived together, neighbors said.
Ummm......I'm speechless on this one.
