Wait a minute, guys. Give the knee jerk reactions a rest and do the math. Is this really that unreasonable a deal? A base model is what? $30k? He wants a sport with touring. Don't know if he wants nav or not. If not, then we're talking around $38k, right? If he does, then more like $41k? So there's an $11k delta right there. Plus, his base model depreciated the moment he drove it off the lot. So if my numbers are right, then this dealer is basically letting him return his car for a $1k hit on depreciation and swap it for the car he really wants. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I'd do it if I were him. But it's not "nuts," and it's not "robbery." Given the price points, I don't think this dealer is trying to make him "bend over." Now, if my numbers are off, then someone please correct me, because obviously my opinion is based on my understanding of the numbers and price points.
