The top of the guage shouldn't concern people (I have no idea why it does). IT'S THE BOTTOM OF THE GUAGE THAT'S THE IMPORTANT PART!! After all, you would think that wanting to know when you are going to RUN OUT would be a little more important than: "I wonder how many more drops can I get in the tank?"

How do you know when you're going to run out of gas if one or both of the sending units is obviously not accurate? It's not about how many more drops of gas you can get in the tank - it's about trusting the gas gauge reading. And I especially wouldn't rely on the gas guage at the
bottom of the tank if I can't rely on it at the top of the tank, nor would I think very many people are going to run the tank dry to find out where "E" really is...
Not to mention, the OP just wants to know if there's something wrong with his Z - there is, and it happened to mine and others too. It's not big deal to have the problem corrected, doesn't require that the dash be torn apart (which is what the OP was worried about), and it is covered under warranty. Don't know why this thread would make you laugh.
Wow indeed...
