Saw this video a while ago, agreed 100%. The government's spending problem and the US people's spending problem are intrinsically linked and in many ways one in the same. No one ever wants to cut spending, even when they can't afford their level of consumption. The problem is that it's easy to add programs/incentives/services but politicians have a much harder time taking those away even when it is a necessity to decrease spending because that would be political suicide.
While I don't think buying silver ingots is the best form of action, it's a shame the US has reached its current position.
