I'm sure some of this is addressed at me, so I will respond.

I, for one, certainly don't want everyone to trade in their Z's for 5.0s. People ask me all the time, though. I get a few PM's a week asking for a Z vs. 5.0 comparison. If someone is interested I'll help them out and tell them my experience. Ultimately they decide for themselves.

If everyone wanted the same thing the world would be a very boring place.

I have to respect a company that puts as much love into there 30k production car as our american car builders only seem to put so much soul into the Z06 and ZR-1 which are 3x more expensive. The passion in mustang doesn't come from the factory as the Z. It comes from rousch, carroll shelby team and svt. They are the ones that make the mustang truly special, historically. In 2011 I will give the mustang its dues on the 5.0 and its boss. The mustang hasn't been good without the 5.0 n now u guys got it back. Kool. But 3 years later, the overall build quality of a 370z base still supercedes all the muscle cars.
I'm not hating on muscle cars. I almost dipped into a camaro and I really love that new BOSS. My admiration and adoration for imports kept me home with the fairlady though.
What gets me is now cuz these cars are a quarter second quicker. The Z is less significant?

Quality is many times a very subjective thing. I will tell you right now that the build quality on my Mustang is as good (or even better in some areas, like paint) than my Z. The days of crap domestic quality are over.
Passion? I'd say the guys that design the Mustang are just as passionate about it as the guys that design and build the 370. The Z is just another assembly line car at the end of the day. It's not put together by hand by a small team of technicians like a Lamborghini or Ferrari (which now use a lot of automation, by the way!).

People do it all the time. I don't necessarily agree with it because they are two different breeds and classes of cars. But because they fall under the same price range everyone seems to cross-shop, and for whatever ridiculous reason there is some apparent Z vs. Mustang rivalry. Why? I have no clue!

I strongly disagree with this. If anything, the early Fast and Furious movies served only to increase the hatred for "ricers." Unfortunately for the legitimate import crowd, a lot of domestic guys decided to group in real enthusiast Supras, Zs, Skylines, etc. in with the average riced out Civic or Sentra... which is very unfortunate.
I don't think any muscle car enthusiasts were drawn to imports because of the movie... if anything they were pushed away. And a whole new crop of teenage idiots with econobox cars suddenly decided they were "tuners" and would unintentionally make a mockery out of the legitimate import tuner scene.

Everyone is jockin that guy cuz he beat my stang with a v6 Z, damn I used to have one." Lmao...That's how some of you guys live. Envying others and striving to be envied... Kinda wack.
Buy the v8 cuz u luv the v8 for what it is. Not for what it can beat. If u gonna be at the track every week? Then you need to buy what you are most comfy in for racing and mod. Cuz any modded sports car makes it a drivers race at the track. Its all about how much u willing to spend more than the cars stock capability.
Weak minded envy will dent your pockets with upside down trade ins.
Too many red light racers and not enough true enthusiasts.
Fairlady Z and Skyline to the death! FTW.

I don't envy anyone. I'm a car enthusiast first and a Mustang and Z fan second. I respect my fellow
true car enthusiats.
Oh, and pay with cash and you'll never go upside down.
