In general LEDs (as a technology) have insane lifetimes compared to incandescent lighting. If an LED fails early (the LED itself, rather than the driver circuitry or whatever), it means it was being overdriven with more voltage than it was designed for (which I imagine some of these companies might do, to get a little more initial brightness out of the setup, if they don't care about long term failure rate).
