Lets go off of this photo and your imagination on where the vents would go in relation to the headlights.

That pic right there backs up your drawing. You won't get much benefit from any direct airflow onto the filter... but it's always possible that the rush of fresh air into that area of the car would decrease the temp of the air being sucked in by the intakes and help a little bit.

IMO, those vents would be better with a setup like Steve's (Modshack). Just run some tubing from the vent to the airbox to get direct access to some fresh air.
